Spotlighting African Contemporary Art

At Creative Connect, I led the social media efforts to spotlight African contemporary art and artists. My day-to-day involved following local exhibitions, fairs, and galleries, collecting artwork, and curating content that told stories with intention and care.

I wrote every caption for Instagram and LinkedIn, making sure each post wasn't just beautiful, but meaningful. I worked closely with artists, documented their work, and translated their ideas into language that connected with our audience.

Digital Strategy & Visual Design

I also designed visuals, managed the posting schedule, and tracked engagement. Over time, I helped grow our follower base and drive deeper interaction with our content. My focus was simple: build a digital presence that matched the creativity of the work we were sharing.

The role required balancing curatorial sensibility with digital marketing strategy, ensuring that each piece of content served both artistic integrity and audience engagement goals.

Artist Collaboration & Documentation

Working directly with artists was one of the most rewarding aspects of this role. I spent time understanding their creative processes, documenting their exhibitions and studio practices, and finding ways to authentically represent their work in digital formats.

This involved not just photography and content creation, but also building relationships within the creative community and understanding the nuances of how different artists preferred to have their work presented online.

Building Meaningful Connections

The experience taught me how to bridge the gap between artistic expression and digital communication. Each post required careful consideration of how to maintain the integrity of the artwork while making it accessible to diverse online audiences.

I learned to navigate the delicate balance between promoting artists' work and respecting their creative autonomy, always ensuring that our digital presence served the broader mission of supporting African and Global South creatives.
